Job Overview

The Business Process Consultant (Martech) ensures that clients receive world-class service from the DemandLab offerings and deliverables by leading the delivery team on strategic projects. The Business Process Consultant (Martech) works with clients on Martech change management projects to understand goals and business requirements, document the current state, and map processes to reach a targeted future state.

The Business Process Consultant (Martech) at DemandLab works directly with the assigned Client Success Manager to deliver business process consulting services to clients to support growth and change management. This position supports DemandLab’s success with clients and the business as a whole and straddles the world of Marketing, Technology and Operations in complex business environments (B2B). Working within B2B marketing clients, this individual leverages existing expertise in marketing technology (marketing automation) and business processes to solve strategic challenges by applying data and process management frameworks to plan and activate complex projects.

A key responsibility of the Business Process Consultant (Martech) is to work with clients on defining their key business processes to support new initiatives or changing business strategies. They are responsible for the complete project lifecycle, including but not limited to leading client conversations to document, analyze and validate client business requirements, leveraging project management frameworks to create the work breakdown structure, establishing workflow(s), delineate areas of responsibility/swimlanes, and use risk management tools to guide client projects, leveraging change management expertise and experience to create and activate the effort.

This individual ensures that clients receive world-class service from the DemandLab offerings and deliverables by leading the delivery team on strategic projects. They work with clients on Martech change management projects to understand goals and business requirements, document the current state, and map processes to reach a targeted future state.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Strategic delivery

  • Clarify ambiguous/complex business challenges and—using research, personal experience, business assessment capabilities, and customer experience acumen— to define the issues, identify opportunities, drive innovative new ideas, and recommend an actionable, prioritized, pragmatic roadmap that aligns with customer needs/goals and will impact success.
  • Scope and discovery:
    • Identify and work with client stakeholders to define and plan change management projects
    • Lead discovery sessions to assess and understand business requirements, and project goals
    • Translate business requirements and project goals into defined scope and objectives
  • Plan:
    • Perform gap analyses
    • Work with technical leads to translate stated and unstated client needs into technical projects or tasks with timelines
    • Create project plans and change management roadmaps to reach the future state including milestones, workstreams, and other framework works as needed
    • Document project risks and recommends remediation pathways
  • Guide decision:
    • Negotiate consensus within our client’s business around digital strategic vision as well as key areas of focus, and create from this vision a pragmatic roadmap to execution
    • Bring rigor to a client’s decision-making process by performing detailed analysis, running working sessions, presenting and evaluating solution options and driving consensus among key stakeholders
    • Develop new decision frameworks and governance processes that continue to deliver value far beyond a particular engagement
  • Report:
    • Develop status report framework and prepare client status reports
    • Determine how to measure business results, modeling current/future business processes, gather business requirements, and identify the organizational changes required to successfully realize the benefits of the solution
  • Innovation:
    • Develop and test business processes to drive performance in alignment with the client's business needs and objectives
    • Become a trusted advisor for driving innovative strategies forward with customers

Business Development and Support

  • Estimate resources and timelines for delivery including coordinating with project management and technical teams to create an execution roadmap, identify resources, highlight dependencies, determine milestones, and set burn down targets

Qualifications

Successful team members in this position must meet the following:

  • Experience and proven expertise in digital marketing and related technology
    • Marketing campaign design, execution, and reporting experience
    • CRM administration or process development in a B2B environment
    • Strategize and roadmap projects in a complex business and marketing organization
    • Demonstrated data-driven decision making
    • Implementing customer experience initiatives
  • Business consulting
    • Demonstrate engagement with Executive-level stakeholders
    • Communication and presentation skills; dynamic (persuasive) in presenting ideas to clients from VP to C-level

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to support interface with clients, vendors, direct reports and cross-functional team members
  • Experience and aptitude for presenting to stakeholders and senior marketing leaders

Education & Work Experience

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in marketing, engineering, or software development related field or equivalent related experience
5+ years of business analyst and change management leadership experience required
3+ years of marketing/demand generation experience,
3+ years of experience in marketing operations or technology
3+ years of client-facing consulting experience
Experience in 3+ business settings using marketing automation/CRM (Marketo and SFDC a plus)
Strong knowledge of marketing technology, systems implementation, and integrations
Experience using current marketing technologies including marketing automation software such as Marketo, digital marketing platforms/CMS (Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager), CRM (Salesforce), email platforms, site tagging tools (Google Tag Manager), etc.
Proficiency in project management methodologies with experience using PM software, such as Workfront, Microsoft Project Smartsheets, or JIRA, and Microsoft Office products required
Additional Tools Requirements: Wiki page creation, SharePoint dashboarding, Lucid Charts

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Work from home in a professional setting
  • Standard business hours Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm local time
  • Some travel may be required
