Job Overview

The Martech Developer team member is a cross-functional role that supports DemandLab’s clients needs to provide custom solutions that connect martech platforms (analytics, customer engagement, customer experience and attribution) and data services to support our client’s marketing goals.

The Martech Developer implements digital tagging and analytics measurement strategy across various client platforms and campaigns, including the development, placement, and management of tags to collect and provide attribution data and analysis, testing, and ad hoc troubleshooting. This role will grow to assist with the development of RESTful web services, marketing landing pages, email templates, and data integrations between marketing and sales platforms in support of our client’s marketing needs.

Qualified applicants must possess a background in online programming, database structures, and restful communication techniques with an interest in building out marketing operations skills, using marketing automation and CRM platforms, such as Marketo and Salesforce.

This role works closely with key internal stakeholders and under the guidance of the Martech Innovation Strategist to understand our client’s business needs and goals and implement successful attribution models to capture the data needed for driving business decisions.

Our delivery team uses a number of tools including an advanced project management platform, communications systems, as well as testing and quality assurance processes and platforms. The Martech Developer team member must be comfortable working within an environment that leverages technology to efficiently deliver our services, and values accountability and collaboration to ensure success across all client engagements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Implement analytics tagging solutions using javascript to capture and report online visitor behaviour and interactions into various web analytic platforms
  • Centralize digital tracking, analytics, and associated data quality
  • Support various analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Kissmetrics etc.)
  • Manage analytic tags via an online web tag platform such as Google Tag Manager
  • Analytic tag data layer implementation across various website properties
  • Create and maintain customer-facing documentation related to data layers and tagging implementation requirements
  • User acceptance testing and implementation
  • Develop JavaScript functions based on what needs to be accomplished
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure analytics and measurement best practices are followed


Successful team members in this role must meet the following experience, qualifications, and education criteria:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar certification
  • 2+ years of digital analytics implementation experience
  • 2+ years of HTML, CSS, JavaScript experience
  • Confidently able to read, write, and troubleshoot JavaScript code in server environments
  • Demonstrated best practices in code development and tool chains including use of github, nodejs, es/jslint
  • QA/Validation of code and tagging activities in pre-production and live environments
  • Experience working with tag management platforms and data layers
  • Experience in data hygiene and marketing and sales analytics
  • Basic knowledge of demand generation, customer engagement, digital marketing, and communications strategies and tactics
  • Ability to manage expectations and meet deadlines based on project requirements
  • Confidence in discussing and documenting technical matters
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Organized, with a demonstrable history of attention to detail to ensure work is performed accurately, completely and meets or exceeds the client’s expectations
  • Industrious, motivated, resourceful and creative, with an ability to synthesize information quickly
  • Quick learner who goes the extra mile to meet or exceed internal professional development requirements
The following items are considered a plus:
  • Experience implementing and using tag management systems such as Tealium or Adobe Launch
  • Experience implementing and analyzing iOS and Android applications using Firebase
  • Proven knowledge of Javascript, Restful methods, CSS, HTML and an understanding of popular libraries and frameworks
  • Advance knowledge in Adobe Analytics and/or Google Analytics
  • Marketo, Eloqua or other relevant marketing automation platform experience is considered a plus
